Easy Gluten-Free Apple Crumble

Ingredients
  

For the filling

  • 3 or 4 medium sized apples peeled, cored and cubed
  • 1 tbsp clear liquid water, booze, rose water
  • ¼ cup sugar
  • 1 tsp cinnamon or cardamom

For the topping

  • 200 g gluten free flour mix
  • 100 g gluten free oats
  • 150 butter or vegan margarine
  • 75 g sugar

Instructions
 

  • Preheat oven to 180C/350F
  • Toss 3 or 4 medium sized apples with ¼ cup sugar, 1 tsp cinnamon or cardamom, and 1 tbsp clear liquid in a baking dish.
  • Put 200 g gluten free flour mix, 100 g gluten free oats, and 75 g sugar in a bowl.
  • Slice in 150 butter or vegan margarine and rub it with your fingertips into the mixture until it resembles breadcrumbs.
  • Add more butter if needed.
  • Cover apple filling with the dough and place in oven for 25-30 minutes, until golden on top.

Notes

Serve warm with (vegan) cream or custard.
Spoonie Notes:
  • Pre-chop apples when you have spoons, and toss them in the freezer..
  • Make crumble topping in advance, freeze in a bag, sprinkle straight onto fruit later.
  • Leave the skins on the apples. Less work.
  • Want to sprinkle in some chopped nuts? Buy pre-chopped, or chop when you have the spoons and store in an airtight container for later use.
